UniqueIC’s company was founded in the end of 1999. Short after the company foundation development of CAD systems became one of the main lines of its activity. AVOCAD is relatively young CAD system, but the algorithms it is based on have been improved during more than 15 years.
The company’s history of development is shown below:
1987 – 2000 – investigation of algorithms for solution of large systems of non-linear differential equations by group of scientists of the scientific research establishment;
1999 – foundation of UniqueICs company;
2000 – 2004 – development of AVOCAD system prototype for Windows;
2002 – … – usage of AVOCAD for IC design by UniqueICs designers;
2004 – 2007 – development of cross platform versions of AVOSpice, AVOProbe and AVOLayout.
A project team working on development and enhancement of the system consists of 24 persons, among them:
o 2 Doctors of Science;
o 9 PhD;
o 2 post-graduates;
o 2 bachelors;
o 4 students.
AVOCAD Team Growth
The basic group of developers was formed long before the beginning of the AVOCAD project. This group brought its great experience into the development of CAD systems for IC design and new ideas allowing delivery of competitive products.
Mathematical methods and algorithms built into the AVOCAD simulation program (AVOSpice) were elaborated on the basis of more than 15-year investigations in the sphere of solving of nonlinear algebraic equations for ultra large systems. At the same time younger members of development group, joined the AVOCAD project at the beginning, had considerable experience in complex interface realization, allowing to design circuits with hundreds of thousands transistors.
At present AVOCAD team for the most part consists of young specialists who are PhDs and post-graduates conducting their work on the issues rather relevant in the world of EDA. As a rule all post-graduates defend their dissertations successfully and become PhDs, continuing their work in the company. Moreover process of attracting young specialists for participating in the project is in the full swing.
Company is actively developing, taking part in exhibitions and trade fairs devoted to the IC design, following world tendencies in the field of IC design.
